Are your tring to get online without the lastest firmware update to the PS3? A more important question is why would you want to that. Hope i haven't broken any rules or offend anyone by doing so.I don't think that is spoofing the mac address on your PS3. but if it only allows certain addresses then u must disable it or add your ps3 address to it. if the mac address filter blocks only certain addresses then changing addresses would bypass. I use webMAN mod to change/spoof my new IDPS & PSID. Obtaining a fresh IDPS, PSID, & MAC ADDRESS from that console. I extract CID's from YLOD or faulty consoles. And it seems the length between each ban is getting shorter. I've been doing a bit of research about new CID's after being banned a few times.
